kepi
looks like you're watching my dog. here are some good things to know. if this is your first time watching kepi and you're watching her at our house, you probably want to check out the "ARRIVAL PROCEDURE" section to avoid being peed on. other than that, this is basically everything i know about the dog so if you're wondering something it's probably in here but it's definitely not required info.
PEE
kepi is potty-trained in our house at least (it seems like she probably wouldn't pee in another person's house but unconfirmed)
she probably needs to go out every 3-4 hours to pee. she'll kind of let you know by hanging out by the door but not really.
she can hang out in the backyard if the gate's closed but she'll only pee if she's on a leash so if you're trying to make her pee she can't be on free roam mode.
POOP
Kepi basically only poops between the hours of 8AM and 1PM. She poops like 2-3 times then she's done for the day. idk why. If you've seen her poop between these hours she's probably not gonna do it again until the next day. never poops after dinner.
FOOD
kepi eats twice a day.
breakfast around 8AM-9AM
dinner around 6PM-8PM
can't have dinner before 6PM because then she'll throw up in the middle of the night bc her stomach is empty (i think, idk)
1 cup of food (under the right hand cabinet under the sink). the scooper is 1 cup's worth
kepi eats the food out of the green/blue puzzle that's on top of her crate. she only uses the perimeter of the puzzle because she can't figure out the middle circular section. she can eat it out of a bowl and it's not a problem but she will hiccup a lot afterward.
she usually drinks water from the brita in the fridge but i dont think she actually cares if it's tap water or not.
TREATS
kepi accepts many forms of payment. string cheese, carrots, and banana are all cool w/ her. There's also kibble in a red bag on top of her crate that we use as treats sometimes. The treats are incorporated as part of her diet so she's fine to have a full stick of string cheese / a big handful of baby carrots / half a banana / all of the above. these go well with tricks if you're trying to be flashy. please also help yourself to kepi's bananas. she doesn't care if you eat them
prob don't give her chocolate or grapes because they're poisonous to dogs
TRICKS
here's the tricks she knows:
sit
just hold your hand / treat above her head and she should sit
look
put your pointer/middle finger up to your eyes and say 'look'. similar to sit but she should make eye-contact with you. usually better at getting her attention than sit when she's distracted
stay
stop sign hand signal should get her to stay in one spot for an extended period of time. you end the stay by saying "break!" if she's in "stay" and you throw a treat away from her, she won't run toward it until you've said "break"
break
ends the current 'stay' or trick session and lets her roam around. frequently used when she's done doing tricks
gentle
when kepi is in "stay" you should be able to put a treat right in front of her mouth without her eating it. "gentle" allows her to grab the treat
down
put your pointer finger on the ground in front of her while she's sitting
spin
clockwise spinning motion with your hand above her head
pew pew
finger gun while saying "pew pew" and she should lay down on her back. Sometimes it takes 5-10 seconds of doing it
paw
hold out your hand and she should put her paw on it. you can also say "other paw" with your other hand out afterward
leggies
spread your legs apart and put your hands on your thighs and say "leggies" and she should walk through. after she goes through you can say "back" and she should come back through
ARRIVAL PROCEDURE
DISCLAIMER: THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED WITH ANY STRANGERS OR FRIENDS. THIS HAS ONLY BEEN USED BY US PERSONALLY. RESULTS MAY VARY.
if you're arriving at the house and kepi is in the crate, there's a chance she pees from excitement if you let her jump on you. to minimize the chance of her peeing on you, here's the best protocol.
Enter the house
Unlock and open her crate while holding up a hand and saying "stay". She should stay in the crate.
Walk back to the doorway.
When you're at the door, say "break" and she should run toward you. if she pees on the wood it's not a huge deal but generally as long as you don't pet her while she's jumping on you she should be fine.
Take her out back to pee on the leash (she won't pee if she's not on the leash).
If she's barky with you, you can cool her down with some treats (see the treats section)
LEAVING
kepi is crate trained and can spend around 4 hours in the crate unsupervised. the easiest way to make sure she's calm is to build her a kong (more on that in the kong section) and put this video of ducks on the tv. you can connect to the chromecast through the youtube app if you're on our wifi (text me for wifi name/pw). if you're watching kepi at our house you'll probably see the video playing when you get to our house. you can turn it off by connecting to the chromecast thru the youtube app and stopping the video thru there.
OTHER DOGS
kepi does not currently have a good relationship with our upstairs neighbors' dog (upstairs dog doesn't like her). they shouldn't be near each other for now. our neighbors know this too.
kepi is generally fine around any other dog. she can come off very forward which some dogs don't like, but she wouldn't hurt another dog.
she's best around dogs her size or larger. she freaks little dogs out a lot of the time.
kepi only gets territorial around dogs if they're near her crate or food. if another dog is in the house, make sure food is put away and her crate is shut.
TOYS
her main toys that haven't been destroyed yet are the brown rabbit and the pink squirrel. she'll fetch tennis balls sometimes but it depends. kong gets its own section since it's a special purpose asset.
KONG
yellow kong makes kepi go crazy, so it's usually only used when we need to be able to leave the house without her noticing. kong can be filled with chopped carrots, banana, kibble, and/or peanut butter. any combination works. freeze before using if you want it to last longer but it doesn't matter to her.
WALKS
kepi doesn't like wearing her red harness so we usually just let her walk with the collar but she can be pretty pully depending on if she's already been walked that day or not. it's up to you. she'll put the harness on reluctantly and stop caring about it once you're walking but she's okay with the collar too.
her black leash has poop bags and a portable water bowl attached to the handle. it's hung over the window behind the door.
bringing a string cheese on the walk is a good way to keep her near you and stop her from pulling.
she hasn't gone off-leash on a walk before and might still be too young for it so keep her leashed for now.
KEPI HOUSE RULES
kepi can go on the blanketed foot section of the couch. she's still learning not to jump on the rest of the couch so it's fine if it happens but if you remind her with "off" she should get off without a problem. don't worry too much about it, it's not a big deal if it happens and i will never know anyway.
kepi can go on the balcony whenever, just make sure the gate is closed so she doesn't have access to the spiral stairs.
kepi can chill in the backyard as long as the side gate is closed. she likes to eat grass and the berries that fall off the tree. if she's eating random shit in the backyard it's probably okay.
ACCIDENTS
not a big deal. if kepi pees on the carpet or couch spray the scouts honor spray (in her box above her crate) all over it and let it sit for a couple mins then dab up. shouldn't leave anything visible. if it's on the couch it will look like it's visible just because it's wet but it will dry fine. the couch is also really old and has some stains already i promise that's not pee.
HOUSE INFO
if you're watching kepi at our house here's some general house info:
heater controls are in the hallway
no a/c but the house generally stays cool on a hot day if you leave the doors shut
there are technically two front doors but the door next to the couch doesn't stay shut unless you keep the deadbolt locked.
text me for the wifi info if you need it
you can connect to the TV chromecast if you're connected to the wifi and watch whatever you want by pulling it up via your phone
you can go in vr if you want to
